Chris Sneddon

Chris was educated at the Universities of Edinburgh and Dundee, obtaining a Master of Arts degree in history and politics before completing his law degree which was awarded with distinction.

Following graduation, Chris trained with the Crown Office and Procurator
Fiscal Service and worked as a prosecutor for 10 years. During this time
he prosecuted a large number of cases and conducted many jury trials.
In this period he also spent time in a specialist unit in Crown Office
working on complex cases including homicides, sexual offences and
serious drug cases and advised on several leading appeal cases.

Chris moved into private practice in 2007 and has headed up the Basten
Sneddon criminal defence team since 2008 and appears in court on a
daily basis.

He is very highly regarded as a criminal defence solicitor and has
regularly been appointed by the courts to represent clients in jury cases
where accused persons are unable or unwilling to instruct a solicitor.

Chris brings a vast range of knowledge to his role as a criminal defence
solicitor. He has the benefit of having seen the court system from both
the prosecution and defence sides. This gives him a particular insight
into criminal proceedings which greatly benefits his clients. He is
extremely thorough in his investigations of all his cases and along with
excellent advocacy skills,  ensures that he is a formidable opponent in
court.

In addition to criminal defence work, Chris has also conducted a number
of Fatal Accident Inquiries. These have included some very high profile
cases and Chris is very familiar with this specialist area of law.
